Default Can Bold users turn 3G off and use EDGE only?

Just wanted to know if you have an option to turn off 3G when you do not want/need it?

In Options -> Mobile Network -> Network Mode you can choose '3G', '2G' or '3G & 2G'.

i have atnt and i dont see that option....

The option has been disabled on AT&T devices. I bought an unlocked Rogers Bold so I could have that ability.

Actually it's available on ALL devices except AT&T branded devices.

No, a BlackBerry Data Plan will work with both 3G and EDGE. If you're in an area that has no 3G coverage, the BB will put up EDGE or GPRS and work fine.

hi, can u please explain further? i work at a company, they gave me this crappy ass bb 8700...(my company covers my cell phone bill). now they have a very strict policy with IT and somehow the bigboss kinda likes me so i asked him if i can buy personally a bb bold and use it with our BES he agreed as long as no extra charges will be...
so if i have the bb bold and using 3g, it is the same as if i had the 8700 with edge? only now i have 3g? no extra charges? no nada for the company?

That is correct. There is no difference in cost between 3G or EDGE. They both use the same data plan.
