Default Need Browser help with Unlocked Rogers running on T Mobile US

Please Login to Remove!

I got a Rogers unit yesterday and unlocked it, send packs and registered onto BB with no problems, everything works fine except for my web browser. When I try and connect to anything it states that this is a WI-FI service. I tried to switch to another browser option but under advanced settings> browser Hotspot browser is the only one there, I seem to be missing the other browser options. Spent some time with Tmobile support but they could not get them to show up on my phone anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance
Tarek

That worked for me in the past. You have a proper full bb data plan with tmobile? Did you do a battery pull after resending service books?

Are you going into options from options or from within your browser?

I spoke with tmobile about this issue on my unlocked 8110 and they push their service books on a per-phone basis, so if your model is not in their system you will not get all the service books required.

You can try a trick I posted in the thread about the 8110 see if it works on the bold ..

I'll quote it here

Quote:
Just an FYI spent over 4 hours on the Phone with T-mobile and another 4 on the phone with RIM, and unlocked 8110 on T-mobile's network will not get the browser service book for some reason.

According to T-mobile, it is because their service books are tagged for models which is defined by your PIN.

Now another interesting thing is T-Mobile is in the process of purchasing Suncom which does support the 8110 so they will support it later this year.

I have found a way to get it 100% working on T-mobile though, at least if you have a blackberry data plan, but it should work with any data plan.

IF you have a friend who has a working 8100 on T-Mobile's network you need to backup their service books, and then you can restore them to the 8110 and it works fine.

You do this under the advanced options in the desktop software.

The one catch is you have to REMOVE the browser before you can backup or restore the correct service books.

I found this link on removing and reinstalling the browser,
hxxp://blackberrywithoubis.googlepages.com/blackberrybrowserwithoutbis2

1.) you remove the browser on the phone with the working service books.
2.) backup the service books only using advanced backup
3.) reinstall the browser to the working 8100
4.) Connect the 8110, and remove the browser
5.) Restore the service books using advanced restore
6.) Reinstall the browser
7.) Goto service books under advanced options, and remove any service books that point to the 8100 users email addresses.
8.) Login to your T-mobile blackberry email and push the service books
9.) Surf the web using the blackberry browser.

Your device should reboot between most of the steps.

I have done this to 3 BB's and to my own several times to test I know it works.

I will be exporting my service books to an .ipd minus my e-mail once I get that done I will post the .ipd

Hope this helps ...
Also with a little creative editing of the blackberry.alx before upgrading the software, I was able to enable all the t-mobile themes, and the my faves app ..

Sounds like T-Mobile users are out of luck with the bold for now. Not exactly sure why you would want a bold on T-Mobile anyways since you're missing out on the best part, 3G.
