I know this has likely been mentioned but for those Blackberry users who need to silence their phone quickly for meetings, etc. The "Q" button held down will put the phone directly into vibrate mode. Hitting it again will change you back to normal.

RIM is listening!

Nice!! This is one feature of some Nokia phones worth duplicating. How often do you walk into a movie theater and forget to silence your BB, or walk into a meeting and get reminded by the guy next to you when his phone starts playing an Sir Mixalot ringtone? It's a convenience worth having. In an ideal world we'd all remember to silence our BBs when necessary, but in the real world there are some embarrassing moments when we discover we haven't done so.

Edit: I just noticed this feature is not present on my 8820. With Home Screen Dialing enabled or disabled, the results are the same. It just asks me if I want to assign a speed dial. Ba5tards.

Well, that's because this is the 9000 forum.

On other devices the quickest way is to turn off dial from home screen under Phone >Options.

Then you can hit F then V then Enter to quickly put it on vibrate. F is the shortcut key for Profiles. Then, when in profiles you can select any profile by hitting the first letter of the profile you want and then hit enter.

Well this should make a few Bold users happy as I have seen many threads requestion this.

Hit and hold the "A" locks the keyboard. God I lock this thing! I was scared that I wanted it for so long that it would be a dissapointment when it actually got here! NOT!

I am so happy with the sound quality on phone calls and even the exernal speaker! Greatly improved over my Curve and 8820. Bold people are in for a treat!

# & * have become almost universal symbols for the aforementioned features

most non-smartphone devices use the # key to silence

i.e Moto, LG, etc.. im glad they finally made it onto a berry;)
