Default Ghost email/ new message icon on home screen

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

Does anyone know how to resolve my problem of new message icon on home screen but when I look in the email folder it indicates (1) but with no new email there?

I don't want to go though wiping handset again as have had problems with my bold on orange.

Any ideas?

I am not sure ,did you check to see if you have any missed calls ,voice mails .I find with bb over palm that if you do not clear all messages the icon stays on .

I have checked all the folders and can see exactly where the message should be but no sign of it.

As that folder still shows (1) even have done search for unopened messages - still no joy

Are you sure you are at the top of the message list? Press the "T" to go to the top. Also, scroll through all the messages by using the Space key.

When you're in your messages hit the U key. It's a shortcut to show you all unread messages. Then check that you bold has the correct time and date shown.

Is it possible that you have (or had) a voicemail message?

For some reason, new vm messages show up in the SMS / MMS folder. When you listen to the message, it does not delete the message in the folder. The message icon will still show on the main screen. You have to manually delete this message in the folder.

On my Curve, all messages showed in my message folder & vm messages would automatically delete themselves after listening to them.

A bit annoying really.

I get this all the time, for me, its when i download images on an HTML e-mail, when i have poor coverage (at work) if it downloads some of the images, but not all of them, if i delete the e-mail, it shows 1 new mail, even thougth i dont have any in the inbox.

i find a good ole battery pull does the trick.

This issue has happened to me with the Curve. The only cure I ever found was to Wipe Handheld and start over.

sometimes it may the unread msg may not be in a specific EMAIL ADDRESS folder - it may be in the main MESSAGES folder. I had this issue before and found that this is the case. PS. Is your MESSAGES folder hidden?

Wirelessly posted

It happens to me sometimes. A simple battery pull fixes it every time. I think all blackberrys have had this problem here and there.

Backup your bberry and then delete the Messages database. Recover your Messages back and see if that fixes it. Apparently there is a corruption in the db and sometimes this fixes the issue. If not you'll have to delete the Message db alltogether.

Try this. Go into your messages, hit the options key and select "View Saved Messages". Sometimes people inadvertently save a message that gets saved as an unopened message, and it causes the icon on the home screen to show the number of such unopened messages, even though there's nothing new or unopened in your InBox.

***I ASKED THIS QUESTION BEFORE**** search under messages from 'royhuang'.

I think you just need to pull out your battery and reinsert. Sometimes when you get images from html messages and then suddently press the end key to go back to home, the BB doesn't retrieve the full html image so you see the unread email icon.

idem dito. Have only had this happen once, and I do suspect it does have something to do with deleting or closing a message before all images have been downloaded after a request.
