Anyone stayed on the phone for a bit and start to notice your ear is warming up and starting to "burn"? Also, have you pressed against the top of the screen (near the speaker) and notice the top of the LCD has that "melting" effect?

Yes I have noticed both issues. Infact when I remove the A/C adapter, the screen has a "melting effect". Looks like the casing may not be hard enough to protect the LCD?

I use bt and been on some long calls 40mims ,and phone is fine,no heat.why would anyone hold a phone up to there ear for that long when bt makes life so easy.
Mine gets hot when I talk sometimes...haven't noticed the screen thing though.
I also don't understand why they made the screen "soft" on this unit... the way it is now it's just like a laptop LCD when you push on it the display it gets all weird. I don't understand why they would do this on a phone that may be under pressure (in your pocket etc) as it's probably bad for the screen. On any other BB the screen was always hard you couldn't just press on it...
The Bold does get warm, but it will not "burn" you! The screen distortions are not a problem abd as an other poster pointed out the screen is all part of the clear cover and should not get dust behind it.

I have noticed the heat issue, but not the LCD melting. I will check it out and see if there is a problem. Find sometime it gets so warm that I sweat (maybe that is just me).
