Exclamation Bold OS upgrade - 09-07-2008, 12:47 AM

heres the deal,

im definetely NOT new to BB's, or upgrading OS etc.. but i seem to be baffled by the fact that i cant get this Bold to upgrade .

installed the 9000EastAsia_PBr4.6.0_rel243_PL4.0.0.135_A4.6.0.12 6_Hutchison, deleted vendor.xml, ran BDM and NO updates found.

installed
Vodafone: 9000M_PBr4.6.0_rel243_PL4.0.0.135_A4.6.0.126, delted vendor.xml, ran BDM and still no updates found.

im using BDM 4.6, BB bold, and the above mentioned OS files.

anyone experienced similar issues, or have an explanation as to what i may have missed.
i followed the same process i always use when upgrading any of my previous BB devices, but the bold wont budge.

assistance/insight is appreciated

cheers

Does your Bold have a restricted IT policy?

I don't have a Bold yet, but I am just absorbing the knowledge in this forum like a sponge for when I do. ;)

The only thing I can think of is, did you do a clean BDM install, or over top of a previous version. It might be that something in the Windows registry is causing a problem. Also, how many other versions of the handheld software are present other than the two 4.6's mentioned?

Are all other functions working other than the handheld OS upgrade part not working (sync, backup, etc.)?

I always uninstall all previous OS versions from my PC before installing the new one.

I always leave the older versions in case I need to downgrade from a newer version. It's never been a problem.

If you really need to downgrade, you can always reinstall it. No biggie.

Wirelessly posted (BB 11020)

Just use Control Panel >Add/Remove Programs and uninstall .134. DM will install whatever the latest on your PC is. You'll need to make sure that the OS you want is the latest installed. It won't prompt you to downgrade but if you open Application Loader it will downgrade.
