Default Bold now losing random data - 09-08-2008, 03:12 AM

I've looked in the "losing SMS/Emails" sticky at the top of the general discussion forum but nobody in there is posting anything about Bolds so I thought I would post this here first.

So on my bold I have around 28MB free memory and I am running Facebook and Instamapper GPS. There doesn't seem to be a memory leak.

I first started noticing that the Facebook app was randomly losing its messages - eg, say I received 3 pokes, 2 messages and 4 wall posts the previous day (which were all there the previous day), I'd wake up the following day to find they'd all gone other than one of the messages and one of the wall posts, along with everything from (say) the last 3 days, but stuff before then was still there.

This morning I wake up to find all my emails have gone from more than 10 days ago, as have my texts as of about 7 days ago. I have nothing in my calendar either before 26th august (it's set to keep appointments forever, and email is set to keep for 5 months).

I'm on the latest OS - I'm going to try removing my third party apps for a while to see if that makes a difference, but are any of you also having the same problems? 28MB free is a figure that I wouldn't think to be low, to force this sort of stuff to happen...

Thanks in advance,

Chris

That random deleting is, in fact, a memory issue. Have you tried following the instructions in that thread? I certainly would.

Yeah I thought it would be but didn't think it would do that sort of thing with 28M free - I removed all the unused languages etc but I will give the tips in that thread another go - does seem strange that it would do it with that much free though, I would expect it with less than 12M but 28? That would be REALLY bad if it did that!

Thanks for your response John

I'm using bold for the last 2 weeks and haven't had any problem like this.

I'm using Facebook too. Nothing is missing on my BOLD.

It's working perfectly.

.126 is not the latest release. Well let me correct that. I suppose it is because .134 has no yet been "released". 126 for many (myself included) had a host of memory related issues. My Bold on 126 would hourglass endlessly @ 22meg free.
I would give .134 a ty before I deleted all my 3rd party apps.

Ooh now you're talking, where did you get it from?

I do not think a new OS is the answer as my Rogers unit running on AT&T with the original OS is not having any memory problems.

@foner - please stop posting links to beta software. It is against forum rules.

@cde3879 - sorry: http://www.blackberryforums.com/rim-...read-asap.html

@juwaack68 - No worries. My bad. I thought I was getting around it by not pointing directly to the link.

@cde3879 - Just search on line for 4.6.0.134 if you want to try it.

@greg - I'm tickled pink that .125 is working perfectly on your device. It is not, however for a great many people in this forum. The exact issues the OP is having have been experienced by myself and many others in the forum and have been rectified by a change in software. I am not clairvoyant (although I have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express) but I can virtually guarantee that when AT&T release the Bold it will not be on the .125 build. Are you perhaps saying that the issue is with his hardware as opposed to his software? Then YIKES! Are all these Bolds defective and need to be replaced? Should I return my Bold that runs fantastic now with a change in software because I also had a problem with .125 (and .126 for that matter...)?

@juwaack68 -Steve Yzerman is the last great captain of the National hockey League and there will never be another like him in that game.

After upgrading from 126 to 134, everything was fine. A day after, my BBM Contacts (that existed after the upgrade/restore) were all gone... Not sure why... So I've added them back in.. sucks... But overall, I love the BOLD
