Default Latest OS : Bold 9000 4.6.0.268/4.6.0.147 (English + MultiLanguage) - 09-20-2008, 12:27 PM

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.0.268 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.6.0.268
Consisting of:

Applications: 4.6.0.147
Software Platform: 4.0.0.144
File name: 9000M_PBr4.6.0_rel268_PL4.0.0.144_A4.6.0.147_Orang e_France.exe
File size: 93.06MB

Select "...9000 smartphone" from the pull-down list:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...A5DFF913DF997A

1. Make sure you have Desktop Manager 4.6 installed. Older versions will load the OS but may not be full compatible with all the memory of the Bold. You can get DM 4.6 here:
Vodafone Germany
2. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.

Previous OS version for the 9000: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...languages.html

Also available, the EastAsia/CSL bundle of the same version:

https://www.blackberry.com/SoftwareD...ient=cB5RB4aRB

Even 4.6.0.150 is not the latest in existence. I've posted on 4.6.0.147 as this is currently the latest official (non-beta) release.

Hi,

I've upgraded from 4.6.0.243/4.6.0.126 to this OS. Now I've got an Problem with im+. Every time I start im+ I runs through the connection tests.
The more importent problem is that im+ doesn't accept my licens code any more. It always tells me the code isn't correct.
But the code is valid. I installes im+ on my brand new BlackBerry Bold two days ago. Same version, same code. There it worked.

Any way to solve this?

I doubt that your problem is caused by the newer OS version. I would do the following in an attempt to get the app working:

1. Verify your APN settings (Options->Advanced Options->TCP).
2. Re-install the app.
3. Get help from IM+ support.

You should have a file, named LoaderBackup-(2008-09-xx).ipd, somewhere on the machine where you did your last upgrade. You can open this file with Desktop Manager and selectively restore your contacts.

That shockes me too, my curve always took about 60-75min to upgrade.

Yes I upgraded to the previous versions, and now to this one. It only took me like 15 min too. It seems, that Bold is way to fast

Wiith all the OS upgrades coming out fast and furious, I think I will wait to see what shakes out when the ATT final shows up. I seem to have a low volume issue and am running the .134, so I am hoping the next change will improve that.

Upgraded from .144 to .147 and it impresses me how much DM can restore after the update. There's so little to be done afterwards, just a BES reactivation and reloading my RSA token and I'm away.

Now if only RIM could upgrade their lame download servers so it doesn't take 40min to download - that's now longer than the upgrade takes.

Since the version numbers are the same, what kind of "update" are you expecting?

there is no difference between "beta" and official other than the fact it was released by a carrier.

7290 -> 8700 -> 8800 -> 8300 -> 8310 + 8100 -> 9000

A stupid question from a n00b.
Running my Bold under Rogers Wireless, Canada.
If I install that new OS, will it change the way Rogers network sees my phone? I mean, IMEI and PIN will stay the same, but I am just worried since this OS is from another carrier, I will have problems.

The whole idea for updating for me is that I want to install this multilanguage pack in order for my bold to be able to see russian language. I don't care much about typing Russian, but I need to be able to see it. I can see it on most of the emails, but in IM, depending on what type of IM software my friends are running, the phone does not display russian correctly.

To summarize
- Will the update influence how my carrier-locked phone works?
- Will the multilanguage pack from a European carrier let my phone read Russian correctly?
- (and one more) Should I install this OS if my phone is running fine? (if we leave the issue of russian language aside). I haven't had a single glitch in the past several days since I got the phone.

Thanks for the great forums, guys! Tons of info!
D.

As I've posted elsewhere, the site wants me to register before I can download?
Apart from being in French, Australia doesn't have Orange so I cannot register.
Any suggestions please?

You just have to put in some personal information and even that info doesn't have to be real.

Cause other bugs have been fixed and/or the OS has been optimized some. Don't forget that for every person claiming a bug there's probably 100 ppl without any problems. I would suggest upgrading at least to the officially released .147.

I have tried .126, .147. and .150 . I had the best results with .147, and that's where I will stay until I can get a newer beta than .150.

Well firstly you must be in a country where Orange operates and secondly I think they're asking for a serial number (I don't speak French).

You don't need to be in a country where Orange operates. I'm in Canada and have no problems downloading the file. Just put in a different country. Put in Canada, Ontario.
