It is locked to the PIN of the device and all upgrades are included. If your device is stolen or broken with proof they might transfer the lifetime license.

Maybe I'm a bit lost, but for those Canadians who have got it to work, is that via Garmin's website using correct information or just substituting "other" information as posted before?

Yes...it's $99 for just the one time. You're paying for the code, but downloads the maps to your phone as you move around.

I had purchased Garmin for my BB Bold. After a while, I could not activate the software. Asked Garmin expert and they said that activation need Mobile network, not WIFI. I am using an un-lock fone therfore mobile network is impossible.

It does go out of date - its for that phone only. How often do you change phones? I much prefer Telenav to Garmin. Has their customer service improved or does it exist?

Try getting it from handango, there is a coupon for 15 or 20% off floating around the web. I have a few Garmin products and no problems with customer service. I don't have the BB version of the software as I'd rather have standalone for navigation.

I have been using Telenav for a long time and on all of my previous BB's. I know it's 9.99 a month, but I need to be convinced first before I will swap.

two days ago I installed Garmin Mobile version 5.0.2, since then I get an error mesage every time the Bold start to calculate a route (this is when when you select "start navigating" to any point of interest), I called Garmin Cust Serv Dpt and speaked to various service reps regarding this, we tried several things to correct the problem but did not work, at the end of the day technical people from Garmin told me that there is a problem with the application (at least working with the ATT Blackberry Bold / Garmin MObile ver 5.0.2), Garmin is currently working to correct the problem, they will let know when it is fixed, anyone in the same situation? Att customers using the Bold?

I own a Garmin Nuvi 350 in my truck, have had it for a year and am absolutely thrilled with it. I installed the BBerry trial a couple of days ago and took it for a test drive today...get this...it's better than the standalone Nuvi. Not only does it provide the functionality I've enjoyed with my Nuvi, the built in Google search, gas stations with price listings and direct interface to the Address Book are equally GREAT features. I'm thinking so much so that I'll be giving the Nuvi to my wife and signing up for Garmin BBerry software.
Now, if we get her the Storm liked we've seriously discussed...we both may end up with the Garmin software on the BBerry. ;)
Cheers,
Mason

I have been using version 5.0.1 for a while with no problem on an unlocked Rogers phone on FIDO. Fido uses the same infrastructure as Rogers.

So Is there any gps software that is transfereable(not counting a att navigator)? I tend to break things and seems a little annoying if my bb gets trashed I have to buy another license just to continue to use it. Blargh. Also how much KB/space on the BB does the application take? (Running low already on my bold unfortunately ~14mb on battery pull [.167])
Love the 9000!! It's everything I wanted (minus enough ON BOARD memory)!!

then select buy now for blackberry with built in gps.
checkout when you come to the cart.
now you should be at a screen to fill in a shipping address. fill in anything as long as there is a legitimate city, state and zip code that match. input your own phone number. DESELECT shipping address is the same as billing address.
at the next page you fill in your own billing address. here you can put in a Canadian address. put in your proper billing address. note: you may have to input your billing address in your garmin account.
after this fill in your credit card info and purchase the saftware. as long as it goes through, there should be a download button on the next screen. here you need to select your device and carrier. I selected at and t and then the 9000. this will give you the activation code.
for downloading the software I'd recommend doing it here:
http: //orange.garmin.com/builtforblackberry/
access this from your blackberry.
once downloaded and installed, input the activation code and you are all set.
it worked for me, let's hope it works for you!

Your long link isn't valid.. I tried it in my browser and it takes me to the MS Search page.

You're going to make Stinsonddog cry. For some reason they don't show him any love. ;)
Edit - Is it the same version number? I'm not planning on using this but I'd like to know just in case handango runs a big sale on black friday.

I have a few questions for users:
1. How quickly does it reroute.
2. Is it accurate, I used telenav when it first came out and on a parallel road (service road near highway) it would sometime have me on the wrong one.
3. Can I avoid areas, I hate the Cross Bronx as it is a parking lot most of the day.
4. How well does the traffic avoidance work.
5. Is the screen accurate or laggy?
Thanks.
Regards-Michael G.

Just purchased from Handango. Use the code SAVE20NOW for 20% off making the purchase $79.99. Not bad.
Only problem is software does not like provided activation code. I have a question posted to Garmin support on it.

Fixed my activation issue. I downloaded the trial from Garmin's site OTA which was V 5.0.2. Activation code provided by Handango would not work.
I deleted application, downloded the zip file provided by Handango, then installed application with Desktop Mgr. Version installed is 5.0.4 and activation code works. (no surprise now knowing it is a newer version).

Yes, but what if you change phones, lose phone, or whatever???
Well, here is a c&p from Garmin:
"This one-time, $99.99 purchase is only available in North America and will give customers who own BlackBerry devices unlimited use of Garmin Mobile’s turn-by-turn, voice prompted directions for the life of their specific BlackBerry"
And:
"The one-time purchase plan for Garmin Mobile for BlackBerry is not transferable between BlackBerry devices."
So, for me I usually change devices every two years, so the one time purchase is still the most economical, the problem I have is what happens if the phone gets lost, stolen, or broken?
.

I have been testing it for the last 3 days and I have to say it has one major bug. If you connect to your stereo VIA BT for hands free for some reason the voice prompts feed directly to the stereo. There is no way to hear them unless you turn your stereo to your telephone. And if you disable the Bluetooth then HF wont work. I would like to see them fix this error or give you a default choice to use system or BT speaker if available

Been using this all over the country. Gotta say it does what it says it does and does it well.
I no longer carry Garmin when I travel, this program has completly replaced it.

Its not a feature if you cant turn it off. I would understand if it had the option to use BT audio when available. But even the media player allows you to use headset, BT, or speaker. there is no option to get the audio to come out of the device speaker when I have HF turned on my stereo. And secondly It should not redirect audio unless there is an audio sink and that is for streaming audio. HF is not an audio sink it is a stand alone BT protocol that is different from audio streaming. I have that disabled on my device and my stereo so why is it using my stereo as an audio sink for navigation audio just because HF is enabled I have no idea and this is why I think it's a bug

this sounds awesome.. only thing is...
if you get this in canada and use it when u travel to the states, you ding up a nice LD bill for data rates...
defeats the purpose of the GPS if you use it primarily outside your home area... any work around? or are maps always dled

How are you guys getting the trial download to your 9000 Bolds????
Please help with an OTA link.
