Unhappy Call Drop outs - 10-06-2008, 08:49 PM

I am constantly getting calls dropping out on my Bold. In addition it sometimes goes quiet then loud when im talking to somebody. Im using the .147 build, does anyone know if this is a bug in the BB OS build? or could it be my network carrier (Optus - Australia)?

My guess is it could be to do with the phone trying to switch between 3G and GPRS...

Any thoughts?

I'm on .162 on att and get a LOT more drops than ever on my curve. Only way to solve is to set radio to 2G only.

I am on .150 build. I notice that quite frequent my Bold don't ring when there is an in-coming call. I test out using my office phone to call my Bold and one out of 3 or 4 calls I make, it doesn't ring but I can see the in-coming call message in the screen. I try to switch 3G to 2G, still have the same problem.

Sounds to me like there is an issue with the OS trying to switch the radio from 3G to 2G, in which case the signal is accidentally dropped... please release a fix soon blackberry!! Arrrgh...

I have never seen anything different on this phone than any other phone on my network. I think it's the network that will amount to your dropped called. I am on AT&T and occasionally have a dropped call with a friend also on AT&T but she has the pearl. I think it's network specific.

AT&T's 3G network is still fairly new and they don't have the capacity in a lot of places to handle so many 3G handsets. From what I hear, they're adding capacity and towers to make their 3G better.
