Default Boy Genius Report On Orange Freezing Bold Sales - 10-09-2008, 09:29 PM

Interesting, although I'm not quite sure how to take it:

Orange drops the Blackberry Bold due to quality issues : Boy Genius Report

From those using the Bold that post here, do you consider the Bold so bad that it shouldn't be sold?

kind of surprised but best to do it early before it brings down earnings.
major hit for RIM though, ouch.

Quite frankly, the experience have not been that great. It is RIM's flagship product and there are way too many small niggly stuff that makes you wonder if this is supposedly to be the standard for Blackberry. For newcomers, I would be turned off as it doesn't seem to tout that "all business" rock solid Blackberry. For old timers, I will always compare it with my previous Blackberry (in my case, the Curve) and will find it not up to expectation.

I think the issues are more to do with pairing the OS to a new platform compared to the 8xxx series. Plus adding a 3G radio, battery and it's easy to see why. That said, I love my Bold and I think with the 167, stability has come a long way.

If (we) are taking the risk of going with a "Bold" new device, these risks come with it. Where is the fun otherwise. At least (we) can say we helped RIM get better at it

I bet the execs at Orange (and some at RIM) would disagree.

Of course...I am not speaking on behalf of the carriers. From their perspective, it is a headache.

Hi, can you elaborate? What's are the annoying issues that make you doubt your purchase?
