I believe AT&T blocks the service books for Yahoo Messenger. I remember I had the same issue with getting it to work on my wife's Curve. Do a search on here and you'll get more info about the issue. You may want to consider Beejive.

I had the same problem getting AIM to work on my 9000. I deleted all my service books, restored another users service books and then updated mine again. Now AIM works. Find a service that allows it and use that user's to jump start it, then bring in your own.
