Default Clock does not come back after using device while charging?

Please Login to Remove!

Quick question... the clock that comes on the screen when you plug in the charger... if I go to use it for something and put it down, that clock does not come back. Is there any way to make it do that?

Start the clock application - or unplug and plug back in.

It's an annoying problem, I just wish you could make the clock the default screen saver.

I kept finding that I was accidentally starting the camera half the time I picked up my Bold. So, I swapped the right convenience key to start the clock. Much nicer that way, and might be a reasonable workaround instead of the clock as the screensaver...

The whole bedside mode is is a bit of a cludge anyway. You can only disable the radio/led/dim the screen. And it doesn't care if it's just powered up or actually connected to a PC. Would also be better if you could just assign a profile when in bedside mode. The only thing (currently) a profile won't do is set the screen brighness, but it would otherwise give many more options.

For me, ONLY being able to set one of the existing profiles when in bedside mode would be fine, so long as it returned to the previous profile when power was removed.

There's so much more that's possible with the hardware/OS that could be applied to profile control. There's an ambient light sensor, there's a "sound sensor", it knows the time, if you're in a meeting, if it's got external power, if it's connected to a PC, where it is (cell ID), etc. And many more attributes to be associated with a profile - radio control, screen brightness...

I guess we've all that to look forwards to in new apps if/when RIM expose all that in their API's.

How about:

Switch on WiFi when I'm in the cells that cover work and home
Change profiles when in meetings
Change profile when it's dark and quiet
Timed pofiles
Change profile when powered (by your bedside) but not when connected to a PC
etc

You know, wibbly, I thought I saw an S60 Symbian app that did a lot of the things you mentioned... specifically, performing various actions based on what cell sites you were near... but I haven't seen anything like that for BB. Would be nifty!

Wirelessly posted (9000)

Windows Mobile devices have apps that can do this kind of thing too. This is one area where the BlackBerry is the poor relation...
