Well sure now that you've edited it

Looks to be as cheap as $299 with a NEW 2 year agreement. Extending your current agreement won't get it any cheaper than $499.

The only problem with that is... when I actually do fill out all the paperwork, AT&T will probably try to tell me that I wasn't eligible for the rebate for one reason or another. This has actually happened to me twice now, once with my Pearl, and once with my Curve. They said I didn't have service when I bought it.... I've had an active berry in my life for several years now and it's just a PITA to fight them. They bank on a lot of people just not bothering with the rebate.

But I digress... back on topic.

Wait...I just purchased one from an AT&T store for $327 (after rebate). Is this telling me I could have got this for free with a 2 year contract?

If so, can I get a refund (30 day period) and just purchase from WalMart?

What's between the lines here?

Often times the fine print includes some very easy-to-break guidelines that you are required to meet else the 3rd party may charge your credit card the amount that they subsidized. i.e. If you are late paying your bill.....once...by even a day.... you can be charged all that money you saved. Amazon had a 6 month window to do this to you.

Looks like you have to get a minimum of $79.99 Talk plain to be eligible. That's cool with me, because thats what I was going for.

I am looking at:
AT&T Nation 1350 w/Rollover $79.99
BlackBerry Personal $30.00
Messaging Unlimited $20.00
Monthly Fee** $129.99

But I have a question. I hear with ATT the first month is double, because they charge you first and last month? I know the first month I have to pay a $36 Activation Fee, but thats find. Just don't get how the first payment works out. Please let me know, plain to place order in the next few hours.

I just talked to AT&T. They are aware of the Walmart promotion. The rep said that if you buy it through Walmart you do not get the automatic warranty protection (if you drop it in water, crack the screen, etc). I asked her if I would need to purchase the warranty from AT&T to get this coverage, she said no, that its automatically covered and this was the reason to buy through AT&T.

I am transferring from TMO to AT&T, the rep said the number transfer would be the same process no matter where I purchased from. Sounds like a great deal.

As far as I was told, that was an extra service that you had to pay for?

This wouldn't be covered by a warranty anyway. It is abuse/neglect and is not a covered condition.

Default 199

you can pay 199 for the Bold on that walmart website....but to keep the price at 199, you have to choose an expensive plan...the cheepest is 60$ for voice and 65 for data making it at the very cheapest 130.00 a month....so you save 100$ at the purchase price but you pay out the ass monthly..I picked the plan I wanted and the price went back up to 299. So it could be a good deal if you require a lot of minutes and teathering and all that.

Unfortunately, looks like you are right. To get the $199 price, you have to select the higher priced plans. You can select the lesser minute plans but it changes the phone price to $299.

As a TMO customer, I did not know that unlimited data on AT&T did not include messaging.

Well it does... if you take it literally, it includes email messaing. It just doesn't include SMS or MMS messaging.
