This is my very first blackberry ever and I love it.

I set up my 4 email accounts on the At&T page.

On my blackberry, I have 5 mailbox icons. One seems to be a main that has everything in it, and then the 4 individual mailboxes.

Is this supposed to be this way?
I'd like to delete the 1 main one or the 4 others.
If I just keep the one main one, Will I be able to determine which mailbox the email came from?

Yes, that is the way it's supposed to be. If you want to hide the individual icons, you can (I did with mine).

You can see which account the email comes from by opening the message and scrolling up to the 'Received Using' in the header.

Just FYI that when you switch themes, you'll have to rehide the icons. I wish RIM would figure out that when an icon is hidden, it's because I don't want to see it, no matter what theme I am using.

I have a question that is a slight twist to this. I have a BES account with my company and three pop3 accounts (BOLD user). I would like to have ONLY BES email hit the main message box while pop3 accounts hit those mailboxes they currently hit. Is there a configuration that provides for this?

No the messages folder is a repository for all messages you cant ask it to not have messages arrive in it. you have 2 options hide all individual accounts and use only the messages folder. then set up custom searches and save hot keys to them for each account. That when when you enter your messages folder you can hit hot key 1 to show only email from account A.. etc. You could also use a program called Empower BES MailBox Empower your BlackBerry with HTML Email Viewer and BES MailBox this will show a separate Icon just for BES account and then you can Hide your messages folder and keep your other individual icons.

You can also do like I do and forward all of your personal email that want to get on the device to your BES email address and then you only have to have one account on the phone. I have a client that just got a Storm and setup their personal email before calling me and they ended up getting multiple emails delivered. I believe this was because she setup her BES email account on the BIS side and then activated her BES and voila multiple copies. I like having only one account setup on the phone and forwarding all others to the one account.....Just my 2 cents and if you don't want to reply to personal emails with your BES account then this will not work for you.
