Question Blackberry Enterprise Required?

Please Login to Remove!

I just upgraded my Curve to a Bold this evening. With my Curve, I had the Personal BB Plan for $29.99. Today the AT&T rep said I was required to change my data plan to Blackberry Enterprise $45.00. I believed him and finished my transaction. But now I am having doubts, can someone clarify if this is true or not?

Thanks!

BS. You don't need the Enterprise Plan unless you are using a BES!
What a load of crap.

I purchased my phone from an AT&T store for the first time yesterday (previously I had ordered over the phone or online) and while I waited for the whole transaction to follow it's course, I picked up on conversations between some of the reps and the customers that walked in. They simply don't understand the products they are attempting to sell. I was stunned at the amount these reps don't know.

Yep, it's sad... I walked in yesterday and they kept saying the iPhone smokes Blackberry in every way... IDC, I came in for a BlackBerry and information about your plain... Yea, did not get to play with the Bold and got very little info on there plains. Thank you for the internet, lol.

They really don't...yesterday the sales rep was trying to sell me a case for the Bold and I asked him "Doesn't the Bold come with a holster?" and he said "No."

I'll scan in my rebate form and post it here so that folks can get the info straight from the page.

Seriously, it seems to me they are resorting to rather dubious tactics to upsell the plans you sign up for.

EDIT/UPDATE: Here is the language specific to get a rebate with the Bold - "Requires activation on a Blackberry Personal Plan or a $45 or higher Blackberry data rate plan plus an AT&T Voice Plan of $39.99 or higher."

Where did you get that line from? My rebate form says "Requires activation on a $30 or higher PDA Personal Plan/BlackBerry Rate Plan plus an AT&T Voice Plan of $39.99 or higher." I don't know if they are saying the Enterprise plan is required because the personal plan is $29.99?

That is exactly what is going on the sales people get a nice commission from these sales and when they sell you a higher priced plan they make more money and they are banking on the fact that you don't know any better. Not very cool. I do all of my business with the same woman at my local store as I am an IT Engineer and frequently must purchase new phones for my clients. She makes a ton of money off of my sales so she would never try to screw me plus I know what is going on anyway. She gave me her personal cell number so i could call her anytime which is not a surprise as i bought 4 Bolds from her on Tuesday. You can go online and administer your own account if you register at AT&T My Account.

Hi there,

Anyone know a work around to get the enterprise activation option enabled on the blackberry without having AT&T do it?
