Default AT&T Plan Question

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, I realize this question may not be totally connected to the Bold thread, but oh well!

So I'm running an unlocked Bold on AT&T right now. And I want to get a second Bold for a family member. Here's my question - I saw that I can order the Bold on Amazon for $149 ($249 list price - $100 MIR) which is way cheaper than buying the phone from AT&T ($399 list price - $100 MIR) and an individual voice + data plan. Can I sign up for the individual plan from Amazon and then go into an AT&T store to upgrade my plan to a family plan and port my second number over? I figured that they would not charge me any early termination fee on the new line of service I ordered from Amazon since I'm upgrading my plan, but I wanted to ask around. I didn't want to sign up for a family plan via Amazon since they force you to buy a second phone and I don't need that. And would I need to pay an early termination fee on my second number although it's just being ported over? Would really appreciate any insight you guys can offer!

Yes you can, when activating it with amazon make sure it is put under same ACCT number as your existing line makes it a bit easier for the rep helping you. Otherwise you will HAVE to call customer care as store reps cannot merge to seperate acct's

I'm sure this is an obvious question - but how do you do that? Once I get the phone from Amazon, what do I need to do to get it activated? Do I call AT&T customer service? And what should I tell them? (Sorry, I am a little unsure of what I need to do).
