Default Bold Question about SYM key

Please Login to Remove!

I am curious why the Bold SYM key functions differently in different modes. If I am typing an email and hit the SYM key, it brings up the symbol menu like I am used to. However, if I am typing a web address and hit it (to get the "\") it brings up a near blank screen 1 in the symbol menu and I have to hit it again to get to the second screen to find the "\". Is this a set up option or something I am missing. Dont recall that on my old BB.

just curious, under what circumstances do you need a backslash in a web address?

on my 8830, the forward slash "/" is on the "G" key, and is the only one ive ever had to use for a web address...

also, if i hit the sym key in the browser's address field, i get a mostly empty symbols screen, too...

There is a reason why they call these phones smart phones It is because the device thinks that this screen of optional symbols would best suit the type of input you are doing. I know when filling in my contacts that on phone number fields it sets me into number mode so that i do not have to hit alt,
