Default keyboard rant

Please Login to Remove!

I came off a Pearl keypad so they were larger buttons. I'm having the toughest time typing fast and without mistakes on my Bold. I understand the surface design of them how they are angled so your thumb can identify each new key, but I think it's still difficult because they are too close together. I keep making typos and I have slimmer hands and fingers for a dude. Anyone else think this keyboard is useless to them? I feel like I am typing on an iphone in portrait mode.
Oh yea, I keep having to use the tip of my fingernail to type and that strains the hell out of my whole hand

I will take some time to get used to it, specially if you came off a Pearl. Similar to when you type in a regular keyboard and then go to an Ergonomic keyboard...or from a button mouse to a trackball mouse. It takes time. The keyboard in my opinion is better than the curve or the 8800 series. Good luck and keep working on it.

Nope I love this keyboard, it's the best one yet out of the bb's I've had! Haven't had a sure type qwerty keyboard since my 7100 and I hated that keyboard with a passion.

My guess is you'll get used to the full keyboard soon, so in the mean time just let it spell check every message before you send it.

I'll take the Bold keypad over any BB model keypad, except hte 8700 (which ruled). The Bold pad is much easier to type on than the curve series to me, and better than the 8800.

yea this is my first full qwerty so I guess I need more time on it. I know there are guys with big ol fat thumbs typing super fast on these things.

JSanders, I would agree with you regarding the keypad on the 8700.

Agreed, I'm setting speed records myself....

Wirelessly posted

Does the Bold keyboard have SureType technology like the Pearl? I have a Pearl and like how it recognizes words as you type. And it also gives you a selection of words.

There is an aoto text option under sms options but not sure that you can enable for emails, i was never a fan of suretype so maybe someone else can chime in..

this is the best blackberry keyboard as of yet. I do not plan on typing ridiculously long emails on this thing - if I want to do that, then I just use any of my 5 other computers in my house!

I played with a display model at the local at&t store this morning. Killer device. Not ready to pull the trigger yet. I think the full QWERTY keyboard will take some getting used to, especially being a heavy Pearl user.

This is my first Blackberry and I've only had it for two days, but I'm loving the keyboard so far. I was doing the fingernail typing thing too at first, but now I'm getting used to using the edges of my thumbs and not hitting the other keys.

On a side note, I was on a Nextel using predictive text/alpha before this, so I guess anything would have been better! Using the Bold is like going from cave drawings to Disney animation...

Yep the 8700 keyboard rocked. Actually, I really liked that device but am still very happy with the Bold
