I am trying to pair my Bold with my Gateway laptop. The Gateway is asking for the passcode for my BB - how do I find this code?

Thanks,
SL

Just type in 0000 on both. You can use whatever you want, but it has to be the same on both devices.

You're right, most are all 0000. Unless you try to pair up with my car, it requires the code that comes with the factory bluetooth module and each one is individual.....I had to lock that code in the safe so I don't lose it because without you're SOL and I'm sure the dealer would charge you a bundle to get it.

A lot of them are different...

Some are the 0000...

Beemers are listed in the owner manual in the glove compartment...

Acura will ask you to assign one...

And the list goes on and on...

You can also have it choose a code for you.

I should have mentioned I tried "0000" for both my laptop and BB, but it didn't work. My laptop sees the BB and vice versa, but they can't establish a connection. My laptop is running Windows XP.

Any other ideas?

Did you hold the appropriate key when trying to key in the numbers 0000???

From what I am reading, 0000 is the passcode for the Bold....

EDIT: it is the first thing you want to try - 0000
It is not the default passcode as was posted... thank-you...
On another forum, someone got their gateway to work using 0000

Also, it appears that after reading some more - your not the only person to have this issue trying to pair this way... (this was not intended to flame anyone but as you can see if you start to Google this issue, there is plenty of discussion going on with peeps trying to do this)

And, no, so far, I have not seen anything that appears to be a solution...!??!

The BlackBerry doesn't have a default Bluetooth passcode.
You set it on the fly when pairing with another device.
Some devices have default passcodes... the BlackBerry does not.

Hi...

Have you tried the Gateway forums?
I found some references to the Widcom drivers... Not sure if this would work...

usually devices where entering a passcode is tedious/impossible (bluetooth headset, car stereo, etc.

i would imagine a computer would be like pairing the BB to another phone, it asks for a code on one device, then you enter the same one on the other device, and: Profit!

Yes, that is what I think the key is here - What is the passcode?? No one seems to have the Flash Gordon secret decoder ring... after reading some other Gateway forums there are some that were able to at least pair and it would only pair voice and that's all... Not sure if there is a solution.

I keep seeing the Gateway music BT device when you google also... It acts as a go between...

did you try 00000000 (yes eight 0's)

That seems to be an almost default for PCs.
