Thumbs up Dig this, maybe you knew, but I didn't and tested it today...

Hopefully I explain this in easy to understand terms:

I ride a sport bike [motorcycle] as much as the weather allows me, well today I needed to go help do some volunteer work at one of my kids teachers house and didn't really know how to get there. The weather was nice, so of course I wanted to ride the bike, so I thought I'd test the telenav out on the bike to see if my hypothesis would work and if it did I wouldn't get lost.

Here's where it gets interesting, check your local laws for helmet headphones, I ride with music usually my iPod but figured I'd rock the bold today.

So I turned on the music - loud too, opened up telenav and mapped my route then turned the telenav volume all the way up, put the Bold in the holster and rode away..... Well, the telenav volume overpowers the music so she told me the way to go and I arrived on time and didn't get lost....

Too freakin' cool I think, too cool..!!!!

I guess I'll be paying $10 for the "premium" talking direction service!

Try Garmin Mobile. They have the program to be available for the life of the Blackberry for $79. So if you loose your blackberry, tough man, it's not transferable. But at least you don't have to pay monthly. Their website stated it's $99, but I found a coupon from Handango that is $79 and that's LUCKY20. I would get that, if I didn't pay for a 4 year plan through Telenav, I would be getting the Garmin. But I got the Telenav back in 2007.

You wanna' bet ATT has done this. The statement below is directly from the bottom of the Garmin BB page:

"If your phone has built-in GPS, your wireless carrier may block usage of it. Check with your carrier regarding the availability of GPS for add-on mapping software."

Tried the Garmin on my Bold. It works. Not locked to AT&T Navigator. I have other GPS Program too that works.

Well maybe I'll have to give it a free day 7 day trial then to see if it interacts the same with the music player and so on, it should.....I would think. I'm all about saving a buck or two, and for me, I doubt RIM will trump the bold for a year....

Too bad Garmin didn't offer a "if you drop your BB while emailing / PIN'ing / texting on your motorcycle we'll allow you to transfer the program plan". Ha-Ha-Ha....J/K'ing

My Blackberry 8800 dropped out of my pocket while I was riding my motorcycle at about 75 miles per hour. Good thing it was a quiet road. I drove back the 1/4 mile to find all the pieces. I found the scratched body, the battery, and the cover. I put it all back together, and to my surprise, it worked fine!

I use Garmin on my BlackBerry Bold and love it. Works well on the motorcycle, as you have found out. I am connected through a Chatterbox XBi.
