Exclamation Re: Blackberry and Spash ID. . .??

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

Just got a BB Bold last week. . .WOW! I was using a Treo 700P with Palm and utilized a great password database manager called SplashID. I upgraded to the Blackberry version for $9.95 and it uploaded fine to my desktop. . .I just cannot get it to sync with my BB! If anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears!!

Thanks, Mike

Default BB and SplashID

Did you load SplashID on the BB?

Then, make sure you have the same password for the BB and desktop versions. To sync, you need to have BB Desktop Manager running when you plug in the BB.

A caution: everytime I have used SplashID for the first sync, I export all the items in the desktop version, sync, and then delete everything in the desktop, and re-sync. This leaves you with nothing in SplashID on the desktop, and on the BB. This is because the PDA (BB, Palm, etc) has some "sample" items that I don't care about, and that ALWAYS sync over.

Finally, I import the exported file into the desktop version and re-sync, and everything is good after that. Clunky, but it has always worked.

Hope it helps.

Steve

Thanks Steve! I'll try that tomorrow and let you know how it goes! I did notice on my way home from the office tonight that I did have a version of SpashID in my Download Folder when I had them email it straight to the phone. I tried once to sync with matching passwords and it still failed!! I'll work more on it tomorrow!

Question Have you tried...

...Ascendo Data Vault??? BlackBerry Password Manager

I was a long time Splash Data user for a number of their apps on Palm and Win Mo, but the Splash developers were a little bit slow developing for the Blackberry OS.

Marc and Oleg pretty much exclusively develop for the BB and having compared both products I think they are further along in regard to features, polish, etc.

Ascendo is also very responsive to feature requests, etc and certainly worth giving them a try. Anyway, nothing against the folks at Splash Data, just my unbiased review.
