I've had this Bold for a week now. I went from the pre-installed .167 to .190 then down to and currently .185. I have not been able to hold a 3G connection. With .190 without being on 3G, wifi and bluetooth off, and minimal internet use, my battery drained 20% in 3 hours. So I decided to try .185. But before I did that I went online and chatted with ATT tech support to see if they could do anything about the 3G connection. She said I was in a 3G area and should have no problem getting a signal and sent something ota and that seemed to do the trick. I was able to hold onto that signal until I got home. Once I switched to .185 I was back to no 3G. Went online to chat with tech support again, but this time the tech said I was "near a 3G area and thats why I'm only getting EDGE" When I told her thats not what the first tech said he/she said, well I'm only telling you the truth, what the map says. I said, I'm looking at the ATT map and according to this I am in the middle of a 3G area." At this point I knew I wouldn't get anywhere and ended the chat.
I have since downgraded (?) to .185 and found it fixed the battery drain problem. And once I was on the road I was able to lock onto 3G. Even for about an hour while at work. But now its back to EDGE.
Can anyone suggest what to do now? Tech support doesn't seem to know what they're doing yet.
