Getting my Bold tomorrow and have a few ??

Howdy all!

So, like the title says, I'm getting my Bold tomorrow and have a few questions.

I currently have an 8310 (latest OS, etc. etc.) and I was wondering about which way would be the best to take the info off the 8310 and put it on the 9000!

Do I just use the device switcher in the Desktop Manager?

Thanks for your help! :)

I used the device switcher myself and have not had any problems. There have been some people on the forums that ran into issues though.

So, you didn't even use the cd that came with your Bold?

I have been using the device switcher for all my upgrades, cannot say I had glitches with calender, memo info, contact address, etc.

The only thing I found tricky..would be for third party applications, because sometimes you cannot even start the application unless you remove and reinstall "fresh" as a download.

My persponal suggestion, to upgrade via device switcher and leave the 3rd party application behind and re-download fresh once you are cool with the new OS on your new device.

-On your old device, book mark all the direct downlinks for your desired 3rd party application - when yo hve your new OS, you can simply opne up the browser and download..

-Write maybe the most important configuration on a piece of paper, e.g. home screen/icon lay out, settings info for various application, sign info / password....

-Do remember that some applications may not work because the license is not transferable or you need to request a transfer (I assume because of different pin number)

-Oh..and use Desktop 4.6..I didn't open the disc, but I assume it is the desktop sync software 4.6 .if you don't have it yet, a must to get things rolling..

-You may want to upgrade the device OS before you start migrating things maybe...this way you have the latest OS on the phone. My personal opionion, anything newer what came with the phone ( I have ATT ) is definitely better...and I am using an "unofficial" .190 version which has been great..for the last 24hrs..
