If you're saying you're getting a grainy picture in broad daylight, then try forcing the flash to come on. I don't know if there's a way to manually control the ISO setting, but that would be the best way to control graininess...but that would also make pictures a bit more cumbersome to snap...
As I said before, I've taken shots with my 8310, and compared them!
