Default Possible to use different carrier's firmware? Bold 9000

Please Login to Remove!

I purchased my Blackberry 9000 (Bold) on my business trip to Europe from the Three Telecom store. I was wondering if it would be possible to update its firmware using AT&T firmware listed below.

Firmware:

Name: BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.0.298 (Multilanguage) File Name: 9000M_PBr4.6.0_rel298_PL4.0.0.157_A4.6.0.167_AT&T. exe Download Size: 93.316 Mb Language: English Published Date: 10/22/2008

Excerpt from my About screen:

BlackBerry 9000

v4.6.0.126 (Platform 4.0.0.135)

Branding Version: 1.0.116.109

Micro Edition Config: CLDC-1.1

Micro Edition Profile: MIDP-2.0

Thanks in advance!

As long as it's for the 9000, then yes you can. Install the OS to your PC, delete the vendor.xml, and you should be prompted to upgrade when you start Desktop Manager.

Yes, it's perfectly fine to use another carrier's firmware on your Bold. Mine improved tremendously when I upgraded my OS to the latest, which at the time was .162. I don't even know what carrier released it as it really does not matter at all.
