So I am working on perhaps buying a bold, but I need some help with something. I want to make sure that I can sync 100% between my bold and outlook? Is there a local software that will handle that function? or will desktop manager handle that function?

My company is not planning on a buying moving into "exchange" any time soon.

DM with definately sync with Outlook. I use it every day. The main reason I use it, is because 99.99% of the time it works right.

The Blackberry Desktop Manager will allow you to sync contacts, calendar, memo pad, and tasks from Outlook. That is how I sync my content from Outlook on my PC and it works great for me.

My Bold is acutally set up on BES and BIS. The BES syncs everything wirelessly through my companys exchange server (folders, contacts, calendar, etc.). My BIS stuff syncs with my personal PC but, that information only syncs when using the data cable. I believe the wireless option is only available when using the BES Exchange setup.

When you say "sync 100%" be aware that not all outlook fields are carried over on the Blackberry. Most of the important ones are there. For some reason meetings don't have a category field in the BB as an example.

Edit - as mentioned by pfp22972, you have to sync via the usb cable or you may be able to use bluetooth/wifi. But you can't sync over cell phone data.

Yes you can sync wireless if you have Bluetooth on your machine that you have Desktop Manager. I use to do this before I got BES. I use to trust the connection and have DM auto sync as soon as it saw the device connected. So when I got close to my home PC it would sync with Outlook automatically. Problem is that it use to do it when all I wanted to do was work on the PC and I got close. Please remember it wont sync email through DM you will need a BIS account which is free and you will get from your carrier {user}@{provider}.blackberry.net as well you can have it POP3 or IMAP your email account to your device.
