Default Google sync with contacts sync:

Please Login to Remove!

Hey all

I was using google sync for my calendar's for a while now but never bothered with the contact sync

So i did the contact sync.
everything seems ok.. my contacts can now be seen online @ my Gmail

however, do I need a new Desktop google app so that outlook syncs?

or is contact sync only phone <> google and google <> phone?

You only need to run the sync on the Blackberry. I'm using it and it is quirky but it does work. As an example, if you look at someones address on the Bold, it probably looks fine but if you edit it you're see the address2, city, state, zip and country are screwed up.
If you fix it, when it resyncs it looks like the address is double spaced in gmail contacts. For me this isn't such a big deal as having the contacts sync is terrific. Google will get it worked out sooner or later.

I tried it and had to remove it. I have about 1700 contacts. when I tried to sync, it crashed. when I looked again, I had duplicates on some contacts. If you have a lot of contacts, I don't suggest using it.

It says somewhere in the app if you have a lots of contacts it can take an extended time. Took me about 10 minutes the first time with around ~300 ish. I'd set it up to sync and go to lunch etc. It does work..but no real accurate progress bar

Google's Outlook sync is only for Calendar at this point.

The contact sync is only for BB-Google sync not Outlook.

Figured as much
at least there will be a running backup on Google if need be

also, you can export the contacts to a .csv on google and import them to outlok periodically to keep up to date instead of suyncing via cable i guess
