Default Is BB Messenger really the problem?

I am having battery issues, not making it through a full day on a charg.

I have it set to EDGE (not 3g), 10% brightness and not many 3rd party apps.

i do 75 or 80 emails a day and maybe 40 minutes of phone

the only thing I use heavily is BB Messenger.

I have the latest 4.6.0.160 on it.

should I resplace the unit? or could it really be due to BB Messenger?

make sure bluetooth/wifi is turned off and nothing else is running (like google maps or something)

also upgrade to .190

bluetooth and wifi are off. how do you make sure nothing else is running?

Go to Menu, then Switch Application.

Even if it is running.. I use the snot out of my phone with 3G and I can get more then a day. If your device is new then either a you never charged it fully when you got it or it is just a defective battery. there is no way on only edge that your device would last less then a day.

I don't that that's the latest OS.

I am running 4.6.0.190 and my battery life is greater than 2 days with loads of BB Messenger use on 3G.

im going to try .190 today. thanks for the help everyone
if it doesnt work, im going to return it to Rogers
do i need to downgrade back to .160 prior to returning it to Rogers?
if so, how do you downgrade? just download .160 and run it?
