i was also interested in getting one from three as they promised it would have skype on it... like most of their phones. they said 1st of November so i went down there on the 2nd and asked to see one but they told me it was delayed and it would probably be another month.
so i got one from CPW (e2save) with O2

Went to a three store today who said the bold is likely to be out this side of the year. So hopefully it'll be here soon.
It will be interesting to see their tariffs i agree as three offer very good value for money and their coverage is good too. Maybe skype will even work.

i asked the guys at the three shop and they said it would come with skype, so fingers crossed... but then again when i asked the lady at the O2 shop how much the fair use policy was for mobile unlimited data, she said 40GB... so im not sure the people in the shops know much more than the average customer...
i think (hope) skype will make a blackberry version... one of the reasons holding them back in the past was the seriously under powered blackberrys but now that the bold has a 624MHz processor that should not be a problem. i just hope the service providers dont block it.

p.s. there is not fair use policy with a O2 blackberry unlimited data plan, just 1 per MB when using TCP settings to access mobile.web

Hi

You are right o2 do not have a fair use policy........ instead they have an excessive use policy!!

BlackBerry from O2 - O2 Unlimited BlackBerry tariff for consumers

I have asked and asked what this is but they aint saying!!!! could be 250 mb could be 3GB who knows?

We have to wait until someone reports that they have received a phone call from o2 warning them that they have gone over their limit.

I only use approx 100mb per month so it won't be me LOL

same here i have been trying to use as much as possible and check on O2 every day to see how much i am expected to use a month as this is the first phone i have had with data included but so far i have used only 100Mb. the issue is that when i got my phone i got the call from O2 to make sure i knew how to use my phone and if i had any questions about the plan, so on and so forth... which i was kinda happily surprised about. i asked the lady numerous times about the cap on the "unlimited internet", in as many different ways as possible, from "fair use policy" and "excessive use policy" to, "i know there is a catch" and she got quite angry with me after the tenth time and kept saying "its unlimited its unlimited there is no limit what so ever!!!"

so yeah if anyone has a problem with O2 you exceeded the limit i will vouch for this...

there is no way after i asked so many questions that they could then turn around and charge me extra.

BTW Foxglove do u know of a way of tethering my bold without using the TCP settings so i dont get charged extra?

I hope it does come out this side of the year, with our without skype.

I'm sure there will be a deluge of customers signing up with 3.

I belive the Skype for 3 UK will be the same as skype on all the other 3 phone.
Id est a customized version of iSkoot client for skype (iSkoot | Life on the go.). Iskoot is available for blackberry.
The particularity of 3 customization, beyond the graphics, is that iskoot will call their local access point, and no iskoot ones, with no mobile phone call charge for that (read about iskoot way of working) since the gsm call will travel on their own network.

Ciao,
Alex

The TCP settings are in the phone aren't they? So couldn't you go to options and remove them when you tether it?

Oh this is frustrating. Three shop said if you are due an upgrade or are a biz customer its available. So i called 3 biz and they said they havent had training on selling blackberry and it wont be out till next year. Think I'll get it on T-mobile. Shame though - as it'll be 18 months with T-mob :(

I guess if you ask 100 people, u get 100 answers

I have read a post on another forum, that the Blackberry Bold will be available on 3 UK from May 2009. Does anyone know if there is any truth in this statement?
