Default Questions about BOLD...

Please Login to Remove!

Unfortuantly i have to ask these questions here because ATT seems clueless to deal with, pleasant but clueless...

1.
I administer my companies BES. Its up to date and so is the OS on my device. Basically i want to see HTML email, which I can, but i must first click GET IMAGES then click YES to verify I realize it shows my identity.

How do i get it to stop prompting me and just automatically download the images, in the email settings it says allow HTML email and automatically download images but it still prompts me... Any ideas?

2.
I just switched from Verizon, the reason i switched is because the Bold is a awesome phone, unfortunatly i cant say the same for ATT's network. My calls have a staticy fuzzy sound to them, they are def not clear like Verizon.
Its not the area either, im in major Metro areas and never once in 5 years have had a dropped call or static call. Since i have been with ATT for a week i think ive had at least 10+ dropped calls, if not more.

They sent me another BlackBerry Bold and another SIM card, still the same thing, the calls just sound like crap. I let the people in the ATT store listen and they acted like that was normal. Maybe just long time ATT users are used to hearing that and it doesnt bother them, but coming from Verizon there is a huge difference.

It sucks though, i really want to stay with ATT and keep my Bold but the phones call quality is just horrid, i cant imagine that 2 BlackBerry Bolds and 2 different SIMS are both bad. Im in metro Orlando and Tampa and no matter who calls me, or who i call the calls just have static on them.

Anyways, is there any light at the end of the tunnel??

2)go into manage connections > mobile network options > network options > change this to 2g.

sorry, it appears what is happening to you happens with many 3g devices on ATT. I have been using 3G for sometime now. I frequently drop calls when my device no longer receives a 3G signal in my area. However, I have been to larger cities and the automatic 3G to 2G signal transfer does not drop calls. In addition, 3G calls in the Boston area appear to be echoing with minimal static.

1) this has been answered a couple times in the Bold forum. It is a security feature you cannot turn it off. It is the same as Outlook it will always ask you if you are downloading emails from external sources that would expose your IP address or send relevant data that would confirm your email address as a valid one.

Kinda sucks I know but it's about time people stop getting the ability to shoot their own foot off. I guarantee if it wasn't there and you got compromised or your email you would be pissed that they didn't have this feature and would be the first to scream bloody murder.

BB are enterprise class devices they are built and designed for security in mind. This aint no Windows box

Wirelessly posted

^^ what he said about downloading images. Security feature so spammers won't know its a valid email address though it would be nice to have some sort of safe list of senders to always download images from. On that note, sometimes my device does auto download headers and pics, esp from my exchange server... Weird

As for the call quality, I'm not sure. I work at a att store here in dfw

and I don't get that complaint from customers coming from verizon to us. We used to have terrible 3g dropped call issues in this area but since about 6 months ago it has all gone away. I promise I'm not just saying this but my calls are crystal clear.

Where do you see this??? I don't believe that's an option on the AT&T devices.

I cant find that option either... as far as the auto image downloading i agree with the safe list, if i click get images it should remember so i dont have to do it every single day for the same emails over and over again.

Our internal SPAM system does a perfect job of keeping garbage out of our network so having to click the get images all the time is more of a frustration than it worth on our corporate BES.

I think there should be a option on a BES enviroment for admins to turn it off or on. I agree with leaving it on for personal users and them shooting their foots off!
