I just got a Rogers Bold; when I started it up it worked fine. Then, when I upgraded the firmware to:
Package Version: 4.6.0.292
Consisting of:
xxx8226; Applications: 4.6.0.162
xxx8226; Software Platform: 4.0.0.155
xxx8226; File name: 9000M_PBr4.6.0_rel292_PL4.0.0.155_A4.6.0.162_Roger s.exe
xxx8226; File size: 93.43MB
Then this happened:
Uncaught.exception:java.lang.NulPointerException
<OK>
Uncaught.exception:Java.lang.Error
<OK>
Uncaughtexception:ApplicationRegistry.waitfor (0x7491f7b6ae80681a)timeout
<OK>
Uncaught.exception:javalang.NullPointerException
<OK>
The device cycled through these messages numerous time the finally it stopped but the email and sms icons disappeared. The Enterprise Activation option in the options menu disappeared too. I am not sure if other items disappeared or not.
I phoned Rogers (xxx8220;your call is important to usxxx8221;) support and was told that xxx8220;They are experiencing a higher than normal volume of callsxxx8221; but please stay on the line.
The tech told me that it was a known software issue and gave me a link to an upgraded
OS that turned out to be the same OS that I already had!!!
He said i should reboot about 6 -7 time the problem is solved!!! However, the Enterprise Activation option has never returned!
I upgraded the OS to Avea:
Package Version: 4.6.0.331
Consisting of:
xxx8226; Applications: 4.6.0.190
xxx8226; Software Platform: 4.0.0.172
xxx8226; File name: 9000M_PBr4.6.0_rel331_PL4.0.0.172_A4.6.0.190_AVEA. exe
File size: 93.55MB
But the problem is still there. I downgraded to Rogers latest OS and the problem is still there . . .
Any suggestions welcome . .
Should I return the handset . . . maybe itxxx8217;s a hardware issue??
