Default One more wifi question

Please Login to Remove!

So I have my home wifi set up as a saved profile. It connects whenever I am in the house. Perfect.

I was sitting in a dr. office a couple days ago watching the wifi behavior. I went and had it search for wifi networks, found one that was unsecured, and told it to connect. It did, but only when I selected it. I have it set to "automatic" which I assume to mean "if you can find a wifi network, connect"..but guess not.

Or, does one have to save a profile, and only saved profiles connect automatically?

Or, is there a signal level threshold required, and/or, an algorithm that looks at data service availability (3G v. edge) in the ATT network and that is part of the decision?

Default

your BB will never connect automatically unless its a saved profile.
sucks a bit because you have to search but im pretty sure its more for security so your device doesn't connect to random open networks unless you ask it to.
