Default should i return my bold?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello something strange just happened. I took my bold out of the holster and the lcd turned on, I received an email as I was walking and got to an area with more light so my automatic settings are supposed to automatically make the screen brighter right? Right. Well kinda. The screen went brighter brighter brighter and just became completely white for a few seconds. Then when it came back it was flickering. So I turned it off and back on and its fine but since I'm in my 30 days still I'm thinking about replacing it for a new one. Any thoughts? Was it just a software bug or is it a hardware issue?
Thanks.

I had my Bold turn the entire right side of the screen white -- a battery pull solved it. I'm not entirely sure it's hardware related - but maybe.

Since then I have not seen any other issues.

I plan to get insurance via square trade which my roommate raved about and also covers accidental (aka water and drop) damage but not lost phone.

Yea, might as well, theres no chance they would tell me they are sending a new one and actually send a refurbished one right? Im a bit untrusting in those situations...

As long as you're within your thirty days, you should receive a new one. If you're that worried about it, swap it in-store. Even if you ordered online, as long as you have all of the packaging for your device and the order confirmation, they should swap it out for you no problem.

Default Update --> Replaced at an AT&T Store

Well.. I decided to go ahead and replace the unit at an AT&T store since i didnt want to take a chance of it being defective and then having to settle for a reconditioned one.. This new one feels a bit different like the trackball is lower and harder to maneuver but when I shared that with the sales lady she opened another one just to show me that its the same on all of them and it was. but Im pretty sure the one I turned in had a more comfortable, a little higher, trackball.. but im happy anyway, new bold, no screen problems. life continues

I had the screen on mine do the same thing.. got really bright then went white then I saw think colored lines on each side. It then locked up and had to pull the battery. I debating getting mine replaced again as well. this is my second one already (trackball would not go left on my first one..) I hate dealing with ATT business care as I am on a company account but I bought the phone and I expect better from RIM. Seems like the bolds have a LOT of build quality issues

My replacement is working fine, and dealing with AT&T was quick and effective. I called, the representative put a note in the computer, I went to the store and just told them to look at the note and they gave me a new one. what software version are you running? It could be just a software bug I just figured no need to take a chance in the first 30 days... Have you heard of a lot of people having build quality issues? I havent heard too many complaints other than from those who are receiving refurbished units under their warranty which is expected.
