No "Check Spelling As You Type" on BB Messenger I am getting "Check Spelling As You Type" on e-mails, SMS, MMS and PIN messages but not on the BlackBerry Messenger. Is that the way it is supposed to be? |
I don't believe it's built into to any IM-type apps, like BlackBerry Messenger, AIM, Google Talk. If it's there, I haven't found it. |
I believe that "Check Spelling As You Type" is a feature the OS. I have v4.6.0.167. One can find it in Settings - Options - Spell Check. I have Yahoo! Messenger 2.1.37 and it works there. Ironically, not in BlackBerry Messenger. |
I had a quick question as well... As I type SMS/MMS messages there is no spell check unless word is underlined, so than you gotta click on tha word and select right word from list. But I wanna see spell check as I write, jus like on my Pearl. G |

Well in that case, when you have a Conversation wit a BB contact you might wanna try Menu than go to Spell Check on your BB Mesenger. I know it might seem obvious but its a start, lol. G |
It does spell check in the mail app (Underlines misspelled words and when you click on it it gives you the options for correction) but not the BB Messager/SMS. I believe that because most IM messages are using short cut words (ru ok) to where the spell checker would be useless. |
Another user with a Bold 9000 on the Rogers network reported that he gets "Check Spelling As You Type" with BlackBerry Messenger. It seems that "Check Spelling As You Type" is a feature of the OS rather than the individual applications because I get it with Yahoo! Messenger and not with BlackBerry Messenger. I speculate that there is a bug in the OS version that AT&T is using which has been corrected in the version of the OS used by Rogers. Quote:
