Default Weird media player issue with M4A (AAC) files

Please Login to Remove!

Wondering if anyone else has noticed this strange problem with the media player on the Bold...

The Bold ostensibly supports MP3, WMA, and AAC format files, and indeed it does play them. However, MP3 files are apparently indexed differently from AAC files.

For example, if I am looking for a song by John Mellencamp, I go to the media player, Music, Artists, and choose John Mellencamp. Selecting the (all) option there to view all songs by that artist gives me two results. Note that both are MP3 files.

However, if I go to the media player, Music, All Songs, and then type John Mellencamp, I get 15 songs. Two of them are the MP3 format ones I found with the other method (going through Artists), and the other 13 are AAC format.

So it seems that the Bold does not interpret artist/album information on file types other than MP3 (not sure about WMA; I don't use it). Is this correct? Has anyone else experienced this?

By the way, I use BlackBerry Media Sync to put music on the device from my iTunes library.
