| Modem mode on the Bold Please Login to Remove! Hi All,
I have "officially" switched from a Sprint data card to using the Blackberry Bold as a modem. I added the 5GB tethering plan and downloaded the AT&T connection manager. Things are working great (except for the need to carry a miniUSB cable with me all the time!). Normal internet usage is reasonably fast though some Java applications worked faster with the Sprint card.
The best feature yet I think is the concurrent voice and data part - I can send and receive calls while happily browsing on the internet. It is a lifesaver when on the road.
Now for my question. When I tether the Bold, it goes into "Modem Mode Enabled" on the phone itself. As soon as it goes into this mode, it disconnects the connection to the Blackberry network (the BB symbol next to 3G disappears). When I disconnect, it reestablishes the connection and all emails flow through. I do not remember if this happened on other BBs or not. Is this normal for the Bold to disconnect the connection to the BB network when it is in modem mode?
Thanks,
