Default Bold 9000 vs Bold 9100??

Please Login to Remove!

Hi

Just bought a Bold (I think...) on eBay from a seller who appears to be reputable. However, I've just realised that the item description says "Bold 9100". I've never heard of a "9100" model, only the "9000" model. Can anyone tell me what the 9100 model is and what the difference is between it and the 9000 model?

The seller said it was purchased under contract with Telstra (Australia's main telecom provider).

I have asked the seller this question and am awating a reply, but also would like a second opinion.

Thanks

9100 was the original model number for the Pearl Flip. Before it was released they changed it to 8200. The model that T-Mobile sells is 8220.

What was the item number on eBay? I'd like to look at it..

No pics unfortunately, so it's not worth looking at the item. But here is the item title (copied exactly).

BLACKBERRY BOLD 9100 IMEI # xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I thought it could be a typo, but it re-occurs it the body of the item description.

I was thinking it could be a special model number for a corporate model perhaps? Not a consumer model. No difference, just a way for Telstra to differentiate between the two?

I haven't paid for it yet - will see what the seller has to say before doing so.

The 9100/Kickstart used to be the pre-release name/code for the current 82xx Flip

What's the eBay item number? Since it's sold, I can't search by title.

PS: Edit your post and delete the IMEI number. You don't want that floating around.

Item number: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks for the tip re the IMEI. It was listed in the eBay item description anyway (as I've noticed is recommended by eBay) but I guess it's good to minimise it's exposure!

I would have to say that it is a Bold 9000 and not the Flip, because the only carriers that sell the Flip are Rogers and T-Mobile. Have the seller send you a pic before you send payment. Or you can call your carrier and have them look up the IMEI number to make sure it's the right phone and that it is a legit device that can be activated on your account.

I should have also mentioned that I did a bit of research before posting this question, and I've noticed a few (very few) references to "Bold 9100". They led me to think that it might be the model number for some branded Bolds? For instance, I'm pretty sure the Telstra version is branded.

Would appreciated any help with this.

All Bolds are branded by a carrier, unless purchased directly by RIM. Right now there is only one model number for the Bold, 9000.

Thanks Corey, I'll take your advice. I'll post back with the result in case anyone is interested.

After all that it turned out to be a mistake in the ad. I'm told by the seller that it is a Bold 9000.

Thanks for the help anyway. I'm sure there will be a Bold 9100 one of these days anyway
