Default Exchange on Bold

Please Login to Remove!

i was checking out a coworkers Bold and it looked like he could set up an Exchange account on it using his OWA credentials (similar to how ActiveSync would work on a WM device), seemingly independent of a BES. is this the case?

my question is this: what goes in the "mailbox" fields?

server (OWA address) is hxxps://webmail.organization.com
login: username
password: ******
e-mail address: [email address]
mailbox: ??????

is that an Exchange field or a label for the device only? it seemed to be hanging up on that field.

I believe you can only have one email account on BES. You can also have up to 10 different accounts on BIS at the same time.

To set up BIS accounts it's easiest to go online and use your carrier's BIS page.

The mailbox field is the same as the username. I used to use it this way before I got on BES. Works just fine, except it's not push email. The BB will check every 15 minutes for new messages.

Wirelessly posted (Bold)

The best way to figure out the mailbox name is logon via your browser and look at the URL after the .com. That should be your mailbox name.

If you were to use it this way, do you still get sync of sent and incoming emails? What about contacts and calendar?

Does anyone know of a way to block this sort of activity? We don't want our BB users accessing exchange anyway other than via the BES connectivity. We certainly don't want them storing their passwords and userIDs at a 3rd party site like this.

Thanks

You'll get sent and deleted sync but not calender and contacts, unfortunately.

This is just an IMAP connection so Inbox and subfolders are synced.
