Angry Bold keeps rebooting

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, I just recently bought the Blackberry bold, and I found it the best phone Ive ever seen. But 12 hours into owning it, I got a huge problem. The phone is stuck in a continuous rebooting sequence, I can not start the phone. Whenever the battery is attached, it just keeps on rebooting. Black screen with red light, then white screen with hourglass, and repeat. I was adding music to the phone, and then I unplugged it, and this happened. Ive tried to update and wipe it, and the problem still does not go away. Can anyone help me?

Blackberry Bold from AT&T.

If it was purchased through AT&T then it has .167 on it. Have you tried removing the memory card to see if the problem is still there?

Try to donwload and install the latest official OS from AT&T, version .167, you can find at :

blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=577BCC914F9E55D5E4E4F82F9F00E7D4

my sister's AT&T BOLD had the same problems. So i backed up the device using the 4.6 desktop manager and then WIPE the device. After that I installed the .167 OS. Lastly i restored the data back. Since then it has not rebooted yet.

If its that new, take it back and get a new one. I wouldn't screw around with loading, wiping or doing anything to it. Its brand new and shouldn't do that.

If less than 30 days call AT&T they know the problems is there with the Bold and they will send you another new one. I am now on number 5 the first two were brand new the next three are refurbished. AT&T offered to send me a different model, but where do you go when you already have the top of line BlackBerry? I had no luck with .167 tried all the others out there and am running .217 so far no problems. Good luck

What do you mean "out of state"? Did you buy it at an AT&T store with a service agreement? If so, you can take it back to any AT&T store, even if you didn't get it with a contract they should take it back.

I had the same problem with AT&T while visiting south Florida in late October from my home base in Canada on the Rogers network. It had worked fine in Canada onRogers for over amonth with no problems. Within minutes of turning on the Bold in the US it constantly rebooted. I solved the problem while in the US by enabling 2g only, something which is offered on Rogers' Bolds, but I understand is not available on AT&T Bolds because of a firmware block. While in Florida the Rogers rep advised me to upgrade the OS to .162 which he said would solve the problem. As I was afraid of possibly loosing my BES e-mail, which was critical while I was away, I did not upgrade the OS until I got back to Canada (where I never had the rebooting problem) so cannot say if that will solve your problem. All I know is that my rebotting problem was only while on 3g and on the AT&T network.
I have been running .190 for a month and a half on the Roger's network with absolutely no problems. I have not been to the US since I had the problem, so cannot say for sure if the problem can be solved with your phone with an OS upgrade. I tried the official AT&T .167 for a week, with no issues, except I found that it used more memory after a while. .185 and .190 both worked fine for me, with more available memory than .167. I would highly recommend .190 (the latest official OS) which seems to have been out longer than any other official OS before being replaced.
I agree, however, if it is a new phone, get it replaced. You should not have these problems. It should work out of the box!!!
