Default Some questions about the use of Bbbold

Please Login to Remove!

Hi there !

I recently had a new blackberry bold, that started me in the Rim world, and I must admit that I'm quite lost :s

I haven't (yet) a phone subscription that permit internet data (such as hsdpa, 3g, etc).

I'd like to have a IM software for msn and a soft for using twitter from my phone. I have a wifi connexion, so I'm looking for some software that goes through the wifi.

I'd like to know if the Windows Live Messenger for blackberry use the wifi or use necessary the phone subscription ?

I also found Nimbuzz, that look promissing, but I couldn't use it, everytime I launch it, It test the connection and then, I have a "The connection for %S failed". Why ? how I could fix it ?

Next, for twitter, I found 3 softwares :
_ TwitterBerry
_ Tiny twitter
_ Twibble

The first one give me this error when I try to update my tweets : "Network Request Failed"
The two others give me a "Bad DNS Address" ! :s

Finally, I'd like to use the google products (Google Sync, Goole Mobile App, Gmail, Google Maps). But I cannot use any of these apps, everytime I run it, I have this error : "This program need a data connection, please verify the signal power and your connection parameters and restart the application"

So as you can see, I have some trouble to use my blackberry with a Wifi connection and I would be really pleased if someone try to help me !

Thank you verry much !

You need a BB Data Plan for the use of most of your BlackBerry functions

A Blackberry data plan. A generic data plan doesn't really provide all of the connections you need. Neither does WiFi.

You subscribe to that from your voice carrier.

On some carriers (I know on ATT) you can get the data plan without a voice plan if you want.

I can read my rss with newsgator for blackberry through the Wifi, I think a data plan is a subscription from the phone provider right ? I'd like to use the application listed before (a twitter app, nimbuzz, gmail apps) though the wifi, it is possible ?

I don't know, try it and see.

Some apps require the data plan, some don't. It'll be hit and miss with out the data plan.
