Cool two questions

Hello, everyone i am a new blackberry user always been a windows mobile man... giving bb a try and its giving lots of crap so far.

i for some reason cannot get blackberry maps to work i have downloaded the att .167 and i delete the vendor.xml file and installed the bb maps still no show, i tried the theme given no luck. i tried reinstalling the whole OS no luck still. also tried it .190 no luck.

i tried doing it without deleting vendor.xml and it wont show me bb maps or any thing besides themes to isntall.


question #2 i cannot get the personal email account to work. buddy of mine said i need a blackberry sim card? i just took it from my kaiser. so do i need a blackberry sim card?

ATT doesn't like you to use BB Maps.... I never got it working on my devices (8100, 8130) at varying levels of the OS up through 4.5.

You will need a BlackBerry specific data plan that's attached to the SIM card you're using to get your email working too.

Did you change the theme to the Precision Silver theme??? The icon from BB Maps looks like a compass.

yeah i did and also looked in the app. folder still nothing.. =/ it shows that i have added it to the phone just cannot get it to show up.

what?! are you serious? i like to switch phones a lot. which means i have to have two sim cards one for blackberry and one for my windows media phones? so is blackberry and very closed off apple type company?

No, you just need a BlackBerry data plan to use data on a BlackBerry device. It should work with non-BB's as well, but you can't use a non-BB data plan on a BB.

I can't vouch for operation with that particular device... it may be a trial and error thing. But you can change your data plan around as much as you want from my understanding....

It won't be in the Apps folder. It will be on the main screen with all the other icons. Do you see it listed when you go to Options > Advanced Options > Applications??

Do you have a data connection right now?? BB Maps won't show up unless you have a data connection / plan.

That's the reason then. BB Maps will not show up unless you have a BB data plan. I saw your post, but it didn't *click* until just now.
