Question Can't connect to older Apple AirPort w/Bold? Ideas?

Please Login to Remove!

I have two Apple Airport wireless access points, in two different homes. One is the newer AirPort Express, and I can connect to that one fine. It automatically connects and works every time.

The other one is the original graphite AirPort (that looks like a flying saucer). I cannot connect to the older AirPort, even though it always connects with my PC notebook and my wife's Apple iBook beautifully and effortlessly. I even took off the WEP password on that AirPort, to make it easier, and still no dice.

Any ideas?

What mode is the older Airport in? B? G? Mixed? And in your Wi-Fi profiles, when you are wanting to connect to the older one, is the "Wi-Fi Selection Mode" manual or automatic?

If manual, set to automatic and see if you can't connect.

you can manually configure your old AirPort's IP onto your Bold's network list. Once it's set, it should connect each time wi-fi signal is accessible.

I tried both of these, and no dice.

I tried this, too. It does not see the Wifi signal at all. Even if I hold the Bold a foot away from the Airport. And this is while the other computers (Mac iBook, Toshiba Notebook) are connected fine.

Nutty. I know, the answer is to simply get a newer access point, and ditch the flying saucer, probably, but this one is already paid for.
