My Bold is v4.6.167(Platform 4.0.0.157).There is OS download on BB's website that shows:

My question is: Is this basically what I have now or is it worth downloading and updating my device?

Same thing. Stick with what you have.

I would recommend updating to a 4.6.0.190+ OS. There have been many improvements since 4.6.0.167.
