When you added the BB to your account, did you ask the carrier for a BB data plan? They would have provisioned it and sent you the proper service books. They also would have created a BIS account for you.
Is this your personal BB or did your company give it to you? If the latter, you need to speak to the company BES Admin, as mentioned above by estabulla, before you try to setup personal email on their device.
