Default NEWBIE QUESTION - First time charge...

Please Login to Remove!

I started charging my Bold at 8 PM, it's currently 8 AM and the light is green. The sales lady told me I need to leave it hooked up to the charger for 18 hours? Is this true? If I can start using it, is it alright if I immediately connect it to my computer and transfer files?

Oh and one more thing, I checked out the Battery Life Guide you guys have up, but when I opened the Bold box, I just immediately hooked it up to the wall charger, didn't really drain the energy, would I run into any problems thanks to this? Thanks guys!

The intial charge should be at least 12+ hours to maximize the capibilites of the battery, with anytime of "memory" battery the bold is a lithinium battery similiar to your standard laptop battery.

Normally straight from the factory the battery comes with only a partial charger(recommended when storing for long periods)

I am sure you will get different answers and viewpoints but 12 hours and a full charge...I would start playing and enter into the addiction

As soon as it stops showing the yellow lighting shape on the battery icon, its charged. over charging is pointless.

the type of battery in the bold has a "memory" and so the amount you charge it is remembered and thus once has reached its peaked of full cycles (i.e. 0-100%) it will have performance issues. charging it when its at 90% for 30 mins for example, everyday is better for the life of the battery.
there is no need to drain and charge etc.
(this is from what ive read about these type of batterys)

though I never knew about the whole "battery drain/recharge" for other kinds of batteries in other phones ive had, and i never had a problem anyway.
