My Bold (.167 I think, whatever ATT is selling them with right now) works flawlessly until I use wifi. Then it needs multiple reboots to start receiving emails over 3G. Since I rarely need wifi I just leave it off now. Has anyone experienced this and had a later OS correct the defect? Otherwise the thing is fine.

That's where you're wrong. You have to keep the big picture in mind. Remember that usually the ones that post are the ones with problems. There are literally thousands of people every day that browse these forums and never post. That means thousands of people load this OS and never have a problem. Your old OS is very buggy. However, suit yourself.

If you read the beta you than me forum you may even find a newer OS that's even better. If you can find 4.6.0.234 out there or .237 you'll be happy.

And you can always downgrade back to what you have now if you don't like it. It takes just under an hour to upgrade/downgrade.

update to .216 and your problems will be fixed. .167 has a myriad of issues.

Im not sure why you asked about updated OSes if you dont want to upgrade. But FWIW, I went to .190, and I have not had any of the issues many others have posted about. I was actually thinking about going up to .234, untill i read about the white screen issue... though I still might do it, since it seems to be only affecting a handfull of people, not the majority. I think if you want to correct an issue you may be having, then why not try it... there may be more pro's then con's. Also, as stated earlier, many of the posts are people having issues, not everyone one that upgraded. Issues and problems get posted more then things that are working properly, because people are looking for fixes... much like your OP... just think, if for not your WiFi issue, you wouldn't have posted.

palomartian, I'm not sure why you'd go to the trouble of posting here, only to disregard the advice of one of the moderators who has been widely known for their good service for many, many years.

I'm no Ace from Space when it comes to these things, but in my experience, the upgrading OS process is not as difficult as it seems, particularly if you have a relatively recent version of Desktop Manager. If you can get over your reluctance, upgrading your OS is like found money! Bugs disappear, clarity clarifies, programs load faster and sometimes whole knew features mysteriously appear like a gift from the Tech Gods! Oh, and sometimes it does get fouled up, or you'll have to reset a few of your programs to work with the new OS, but more often than not, it is a true upgrade. If you do run off the tracks in the upgrading process, simply come back to these boards and you'll find your way back.

I use Wifi all day in the office and when I get home, just faster for me. I've been very happy with .234 on my Bold. Battery life hasn't been a issue at all.

Upgrade the OS. Its not permanent. Its convenient. It can be necessary.
Too often 'Upgrade' is presented as a fix of Bugs. Not always so. Consider an OS's evolution and maturity as a refinement process with benefits and costs.
The difficulty is not one size fits all and no such thing as 'The Best' . Yes there are Bugs and usually fixes at some point but how about a paradigm shift; Upgrades as refinement.

Every OS has it's share of bugs. You just out weigh the things that it fixes to the things that it doesn't. Memory leakage and battery life are my 2 important things. I don't care about the media player bug because I don't listen to my Music that often anyhow and really just use it to watch movies.

But to answer the question in the topic. Yes Wi-Fi is the root of all evil. Wi-Fi- and money. Well Wi-Fi, money and adultry. Actually Wi-Fi, money, adultry, and murder.

For my Bold, when I turn on WIFI, it crashes continuously.

Have 167 and wifi is great on my home wireless.
