Can No Longer Search for Contacts - Help :-)!
I used to always be able to go to the contacts folder (it may be called something else on the BB but that's what I call it), type in a few letters, for instance "wi" and I'd immediately see anyone whose first or last name began with "wi' such as "William".

Now out of nowhere, even though all my contacts are there, the moment I type even a single letter every contact disappears as if there are no results that match and all that remains is the "lookup" and "add contact" option. I've tried everything. Sent a new service book. Took out the battery. Made sure that I had not somehow turned on a filter category.

Any suggestions??

go to contacts->options->general options
is the sort by field first name, last name or company.
I'd think that if its last name and there are no lasts names, or company and there are no companys that is why you cant find them.
if it is first name and it dont work..not sure.

It is sort by first name.

I'd try changing the sort to last name or company, and saving changes.
Then go back in, change to first name, save changes.

That might kick the BB into searching contents of AB properly.

Great idea but did not work. Here is what I discovered, hopefully this will be enough of a clue to fix. I added a new contact and that contact and that contact ONLY can be found via a search. So it would appear that my BB is not seeing anything that already exists, only new contacts. I am using hosted BES. The other day my provider had me delete and then undelete my desktop CMIME service book in case that is what could have caused this.

Any further suggestions? It seems like I just need to "reconcile now" or something like that, but I cannot find any such command.

No there isn't a "reconcile now" option for Contacts, but you can trick the BB into doing a synch of contacts similar to that of the EA process...

Turn off wireless reconciliation in the address book, and leave it off for a few minutes. Then turn it back on, this ought to force a refresh of the Enterprise Activation process, and ought to pull everything into line.
