What is the best way to unlock a blackberry bold from AT&T... I want to use it for tmobile service.... Is there a free way a fast way of doing an unlock

There isn't one. You must pay someone to do it, or find a friend that is an at&t customer.

AT&T can provide the unlock code free to a current customer with an account in good standing. In some cases I've heard of them providing the code right there on the phone when a user calls.

Both of my Bolds were unlocked by Horizon. One took a couple of days as I did not include information they required and the other was done within the day.

I recommend them.

Mine's a Rogers unit, unlocked and provided by Horizon Wireless. I can't tell you how glad I am that I'm not using an official AT&T Bold. I don't think I'll ever buy a BB branded by AT&T. Their service is great, but their firmware is bogus.

call at&t and tell them you are traveling overseas and need the 'unlock code' so you can use it in Europe with a paycard. it worked for me and they gave me the code within 10 minutes.

AT&T will give you the code on the phone. All they need is the IMEI #

for the record, we dont take 10 days for an ATT unlock, its less than 24 hours on the regular service. Where did you get 10 days out of curiosity?

I got a code from horizon that I ordered yesterday. Less than 24hours

My problem I gave them the wrong imei so I gotta order another I gave as last three 944 it was supposed to be 449

How awesome is horizon said they would take care of it

Actually guys there's free software on the net that allows us to unlocked our bold and debranded it as well. Toke me 10 mins, do a Google search and you will find out what i'm talking about

i met someone through a friend a couple of days ago who claimed to be able to unlock Blackberries without using an unlock code..although i highly doubt the authenticity of the method, i'll share it with you guys and maybe give it a try in a couple of days myself..

1- Delete the Vendor.xml
2- Nuke the device (through a javaloader or any such tool)
3- Reload the OS on the device.

This he claimed, would not remove the carrier's welcome logo when the phone boots, but will allow it to be used with another carrier's sim card.

i'll give it a try and send my failure confirmation...

From what I know, this would not work.
This just allows you to use any carrier's OS on the device.
The carrier has the IMEI no and PIN of the blackberry, and they have it locked to their network. An unlock code from that network, allows them to release the IMEI and/or PIN of the device, so that you can use another carrier's sim card.
