Thumbs up How to silence the camera

Please Login to Remove!

You'll be surprised to read that I'm not asking the age old question, "Is there any way to turn off the annoying camera sound?"

I actually have an answer for it. And it's pretty simple. Try this...

1) Plug in a pair of headphones.
2) Play music (you can turn the volume completely down if you'd like)
3) Take a picture.

TADA! No camera sound is emitted!

and is a long process instead of just taking a picture and ignoring the sound.

Well yeah. It's definitely not practical and I would never actually do it for any reason. Just posted it for all the people who have cried about it over time. ...or for the creepers who desperately need to take those shots and not be heard lol

I figured out a way to silence the camera permanently.

1) Remove Battery Door.
2) Remove battery
3) Remove the 6 Torx screws.
4) Carefully pull the bezel off of the phone.
5) Separate the center piece from the front of the phone.
6) Take a flathead screwdriver and chizel the speaker off the circuit board.
7) Follow instructions in reverse to put the device back together.

better yet, search for Peek-A-Boo. It's not silent, but quiet enough to be not noticed. And it actually works without taking apart anything or plugging in headphones.

put it this way, i hope that was a joke....

Just use Berryannoying as Thatzmister2u mentioned; it actually does silence the shutter sound and works flawlessly.

Wirelessly posted

I will not get either because I fear it will influence me to become one of those creepers.

However I'd have one hell of a photo collection.

I'm getting an error message when I'm using Peek-a-Bo, something like "access to camera control denied" - but it's working anyway.

Just cut the jack off an old pair of headphones and plug it in when you take a pic.

scuzzila, go into the permissions for that application and choose allow all, see if that fixes it.

Damaged7, very funny. I feel like a creeper sometimes, although I mainly use it in meetings when I don't want everyone to know i'm taking a picture of them as a joke to show to the office later.

Naughty thoughts a'brewin.

I don't understand why they wouldn't have an option for it but who knows. Maybe they'll include it in an update.
